ESCRS Cataract Tutorial Group 2018

- Are you attending ESCRS Vienna 2018 in September?
- Do you want to be a part of an ESCRS group who prepare online (with the support of a mentor) prior to participating in wetlabs during the ESCRS Vienna Congress this September?
- Have you performed between 20 -100 phaco surgeries?
- Do you want to network with like-minded trainees, and meet some leading teachers in the world of cataract surgery?
If so, then register your interest to take part in the first ESCRS Cataract Tutorial Group. More information is below.
STEP 1: Preparing Online:
Your mentor (Dr Roberto Bellucci, Italy ) has set up a comprehensive “Cataract Surgery” task-list on the ESCRS iLearn platform.
- The task-list includes completing the iLearn courses in Basic Phaco and the Cataract Surgery Didactic Course suite of courses (5 Courses in total) by certain deadlines prior to Vienna.
- Also includes additional reading/videos to further aid learning
- A private online forum will be set up among the participants to discuss the courses and reading. Discuss concepts with your fellow participants and mentor
- You will have the opportunity as a group to request more information on certain topics to help you prepare for Vienna 2018
STEP 2: Hands-on at the Conference:
The group will participate in 3 wetlabs together
- Saturday: 1 x Basic Suturing course (2 hours), followed by free practice
- Sunday: 1 x Basic Phaco course (2 hours), followed by free practice
- Monday: 1 x Lens Explantation (2 hours) Followed by free practice
Participants will also have access to the wetlab practice room and Virtual Reality Drylab machines to further refine their skills after each taught course.
There will also be an opportunity to begin networking with colleagues at a Welcome coffee morning on Saturday to meet each other in person, your mentor, and some teachers from the society.
Cost of participation:
€300*
*Does not include Congress registration, which is an additional €50 for trainees. It does however cover the usual cost of attending 3 wetlabs.
