Founded in 1991, the ESCRS is Europe's leading organisation for cataract and refractive surgeons and is at the forefront of developments in anterior segment surgery. The society currently has approximately 4,500 members from over 90 different countries worldwide. The ESCRS offers a unique forum for discussion and learning which ensures that international expertise is shared by ophthalmologists all over Europe. The ESCRS organises two congresses each year - the ESCRS Annual Congress in the Autumn and the ESCRS Winter Refractive Surgery Meeting in February. In addition, the ESCRS publishes Euro Times, a monthly international newsmagazine circulated to over 28,000 ophthalmologists, and co-publishes the Journal of Cataract & Refractive Surgery with the ASCRS.
