1178 Polish and international delegates attended the Winter Meeting. 276 presentations, 166 electronic posters, 21 surgical skills courses and 51 exhibition companies all contributed to a highly successful meeting.
We would like to extend our thanks to all speakers, delegates and exhibitors who attended the Warsaw Winter Meeting and hope to see you all in October for the XXXI Congress of the ESCRS in Amsterdam.
Warsaw marked the first ever Young Ophthalmologists Session to take place at an ESCRS Winter Meeting. The three hour session took place on Friday morning and was highly successful.
The session was titled “Learning from the learners: Interactive session on cataract surgery for trainees” which included video cases presented by Young Ophthalmologists and discussed by a panel of experts.
The ESCRS President Elect, Dr. Roberto Bellucci presented both poster awards in Warsaw.
Balázs Varsányi won first prize in the Cataract category for his poster entitled ‘Cataract surgery in patients with retinitis pigmentosa: the role of blue filter IOLs’.
Nika Takhchidi won first prize in the Refractive category for her poster entitled ‘Clinical evaluation of Q-value guided LASIK’. Dr. Takhchidi’s colleague Mark Myshalov received the prize on her behalf.
The ESCRS Welcome Reception took place in the Forteca Warszawa on Friday.
The Reception was well attended by delegates and exhibitors.
During the Warsaw Meeting, delegates were able to find out about the innovative ESCRS e-learning platform. iLearn offers an appealing and flexible online format of educational and didactic material. CME accredited courses on cataract, refractive, cornea and basic optics are available.
