Abstract Details

Purpose:

To evaluate visual and optical performance of eyes following phacoemulsification and trifocal lens (AT.LISA tri839MP, Carl Zeiss Meditech) implantation.

Setting:

C.M.A. Centro Microchirurgia Ambulatoriale, Monza, Italy

Methods:

20 eyes of 10 patients (70,50 ± 5.26 years old) underwent uncomplicated phacoemulsification and IOL implantation. Preloaded trifocal AT LISA tri839MP IOL was implanted using BLUEMIXS 180 injector. The following visual and refractive parameters postoperatively were measured: distance (5m) near (30cm) and intermediate (70 cm) visual acuities, corneal topography and aberrometry, contrast sensitivity and defocus curve. The Follow-up period was day 1, 7,30,90,180 after surgery.

Results:

Preoperative UCVA 0.31 ± 0.25 and postoperative UCVA at six months 0.98 ± 0.05 Monocular Near Vision at six months was 20/25 and Binocular Near Vision 20/18. Monocular Intermediate Vision 33.75 Binocular Intermediate Vision 20/20.5.

Conclusions:

AT.LISA tri839 MP provides good far and near vision as well as good intermediate visual acuity. This lens also allows better diffraction efficiency, contrast sensitivity and improves quality of vision.
