Purpose:
The aim of the study is to evaluate the optical outcome of the presbyopia-correcting intraocular lenses Mplus and AcrySof ReSTOR implanted during cataract surgery.
Setting:
Department of General Ophthalmology Clinic, Medical University of Lublin, Lublin, Poland
Methods:
24 eyes of the operated patients were classified to the study. Two groups were selected. Group I, 12 eyes were implanted with Mplus LS-313 MF30 multifocal refractive IOL with rotational asymmetry. Second Group II, 12 eyes were implanted with AcrySof ReSTORE SN6AD1 bifocal diffractive-refractive aspheric IOL. The studied parameters are the VA (far, intermediate and near, refraction). The modulation transfer and Point Spread Function were calculated for both intraocular lenses by Topcon wavefront analyzer
Results:
UCDVA did not differ in both groups, UCNVA was statistically different in both groups. Wave-front analyze of the MTF and PSF values shows the difference between the two groups of the patients. Higher values of the optical performance were find in the AcrySof ReSTORE group.
Conclusions:
The Mplus IOL and ReSTORE IOL are able to restore distance vision and near vision but diffractive-refractive lens seems to have better aberration performance than multifocal refractive IOL with rotational asymmetry.
