Abstract Details

Purpose:

To evaluate the efficacy of Intracameral Triamcinolone Acetate in cases of TASS (Post Cataract Surgery)

Setting:

Rajan Eye Care Hospital

Methods:

Retrospective nonrandomized case series of 12 eyes of 12 patients who had TASS after uneventful phacoemulsification. Triamcinolone Acetate 1mg (0.05ml) in patients not responding to conventional treatment was given in the anterior chamber using a 30 gauge needle to all patients in Operation Theatre under topical anaesthesia after taking informed consent.

Results:

All the 12 eyes showed remarkable improvement within 24 hours. Cornea cleared-up is all eyes and the fibrin and inflammation in the anterior chamber was also reduced.

Conclusions:

Intracameral Triamcinolone Acetate is a promising approach for refractory TASS with no side effects.
