Abstract Details
Purpose:
To report on the outcomes of a single surgeon for the first 160 eyes undergoing Relex SMILE laser eye surgery
Setting:
Refractive surgery centre specialising in all types of vision correction including LASIK, LASEK and lens implants.
Methods:
Data was collected prospectively on the outcomes of patients undergoing relex SMILE. The first 160 eyes are reported according to internationally agreed standards. All surgeries were performed by the same surgeon.
Results:
Range of treatment = -1.25D to -9.75 (mean = -4.59 +/- 1.96)
100% of eyes achieved 20/30 or better (uncorrected vision)
91% of eyes achieved 20/20 or better (uncorrected vision)
1 eye required enhancement and achieved 20/20 uncorrected vision.
There were no cases of retained lenticule or cap damage.
Further data using waring graphs to be presented
Conclusions:
Relex SMILE is an effective and safe treatment in laser vision correction. It produces comparable visual outcomes to LASIK.
