Abstract Details
Purpose:
To measure the visual outcome of trifocal IOLs implantation in terms of
Post op objective refraction
Distance visual acuity
Near visual acuity
Subjective satisfaction with distance and near VA
Safety and any early post op complications
Setting:
MAGRABI HOSPITALÂ KSA ASSER
Methods:
Prospective case series of 45 consecutive cataract pts. underwent phacoemulsification and trifocal IOL implantation (AT LISA ziess and physiol prands)
The main visual outcome were measured in all patients after a month of bilateral surgery
Results:
45 patients were included in this phase
32 males and 13 females
Age range from 20 – 70
Objective post op refraction 85% were within +/- 0.50 diopter
Distance VA more then 89% of patients more than 20/25
Near VA all patients were more than J2 ans 80% J1
over all satisfaction were more than 90%
complications were Early mild PCO high IOP requiring anti glaucoma meds
and Mild night halos
Conclusions:
Trifocal IOL appears safe and effective
provided satisfactory full range of vision one months after surgery
reduce spectacle dependence after cataract extraction.
Strong patient satisfaction.
more evidence is needed ( length of F/U and number of candidates)
Trifocal lenses generated fewer complaints about halos
