Abstract Details
Purpose:
To report the presence of bilateral myelinated nerve fiber layer in a patient with high hyperopia and amblyopia.
Setting:
King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital
Methods:
case report
Results:
A 24-year-old male presented with poor vision bilaterally, since childhood and was evaluated for ophthalmic and systemic diseases. The patient had high hyperopia and mild amblyopia bilaterally. Retinal examination indicated MNFLs in both eyes.
Conclusions:
The association between MNFL and hyperopia is rare. Although the cause of amblyopia is unclear, early detection of amblyopia and correction of hyperopia might prevent further deterioration of vision.
