Setting:

Ganja-Gazakh economic region

Methods:

The study object was formed by directed selection. Selection included same quantity of boys (150) and girls (150) in Ganja city, in towns (regional centres and Naftalan town) and rural settlements. When 900 children were examined amblyopia was detected at 90 of them (16 unilateral and 4 bilateral amblyopia). Children with hyperopia (50%) prevailed among them, share of children with amblyopia was 40%.  Visual acuity in 50% of cases was 0.1-0.05. Significant differences in the hemodynamic parameters of the ophthalmic artery, central retinal artery and posterior ciliary artery in children with and without amblyopia were revealed.

Conclusions:

In Ganja-Gazagh economic region 2,22±0,49% of 6 – 9 years old children have amblyopia. Amblyopia is associated with impaired hemodynamic in the vessels of the organ of vision.
