Abstract Details
Purpose:
The lentis ectopia is a congenital displacement of the lentis due to an anomaly of the zonule. It is an evolutionary disease that can be isolated or be part of systemic disease. The visual prognosis but also general can be compromised, the purpose of our study is to describe the clinical, therapeutic and outcome aspects after intervention.
Setting:
The study is made in Ophthalmology department, HASSAN II Hospital, SIDI MOHAMED BEN ABDELLAH Univeristy, FEZ, MOROCCO.
Methods:
Our study included hospitalized patients within our department for the management of a lentis ectopia between July 2015 to July 2019, we excluded the unexploitable patients charts .
Results:
The number of operated eyes is 23, the sex ratio is 0.44 with a clear female predominance, 23% of patients came from a consanguineous marriage, 30% of patients had similar cases in the family, the signs of low vision observed by the family concerned 58% of the reasons for consultation, 61% of patients have Marfan disease, 23% idiopathic congenital ectopy, and 7% weill-marchesani syndrome, phacophagia, anterior vitrectomy was done for 22 eyes, and an intracapsular extraction for one eye.
Conclusions:
The lentis ectopia can be responsible for important organic and functional complications. The surgical treatment is delicate but codified. One of the priorities of care is to look for and treat an associated general illness.
