Abstract Details
Purpose:
We report a case of a vegetal intraocular foreign body in the anterior chamber over a 30-years period presenting as pseudo-uveitis.
Setting:
Ophthalmology department ,HASSAN II university hospital, SIDI MOHAMED BEN ABDELLAH university, Fez, Morocco.
Methods:
A 40 year-old man presented with a progressive blurring of vision, pain, photophobia, and redness in the right eye for two week, he had a history of ocular trauma by branch thorn when he was 10 years old. We have no information about the ophthalmic examination and ocular symptoms of the patient at that time.
Results:
Ophthalmic examination finding in the right eye, On presentation, his visual acuity was counting fingers at 2 metres distance, Biomicroscopic examination revealed: corneal edema with a central scars , ciliary injection, flare , posterior synechiae in 360 degrees, and body foreign incrusted in Iris coated by the fibrin reaction In 1 o’ clock meridian, subcapsular cataract, without hypopyon observed. A dilated pupil fundus examination was not possible, but ocular ultrasonogrphy revealed no abnormalities. Ophtalmic examination of left eye was normal. The foreign body was removed under general anesthesia . it was thorn and its size was about 2 mm.
Conclusions:
A missed intraocular foreign body may present in different clinical aspects. For this reason a meticulous investigation is necessary for a patient who has a recurrent anterior uveitis with history of penetrating ocular trauma.
