Abstract Details
Purpose:
To report surgical experience of DSAEK in an eye post XEN® Gel Stent
Setting:
Ophthalmology Department, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre, Malaysia
Methods:
A report of surgical experience
Results:
A case of secondary open angle glaucoma (glaucoma secondary to recurrent anterior uveitis) complicated with corneal decompensation. Three months prior, patient had XEN® Gel Stent implanted into the left eye and attained good intraocular pressure control. An assessment of the eye revealed a very deep anterior chamber with open iridocorneal angle. The tip of XEN® Gel Stent was pliable and despite high air pressure used intraoperatively, the tube maintained intact with transient IOP spike. The endothelial graft was well attached and progressively became clearer subsequently with improvement of visual acuity.
Conclusions:
A prior good assessment of patients biometry and iridocorneal angle is important to ensure best option of corneal transplant method. Sucessful DSAEK surgery is highyly possible due to the flexibility of XEN® Gel Stent in the anterior chamber.
