Abstract Details
Purpose:
The aim was to study the central corneal thinning (CCT) profile in Moroccan population and relationship of age, gender and refraction.
Setting:
Mohammed V University Souissi , Department A of Ophthalmology , Hôpital Des Spécialités, Rabat, Morocco
Methods:
In this study, 200 healthy subjects who were recruited among patients and healthy volunteers. They received a full ophthalmic examination.
There central corneal thickness and axial length were measured by IOLmaster.
None of the included eyes had any concurrent ocular disease other than a refractive error.
Results:
This study included 200 subjects , median age was 43,33 years.
There were 100 males (aged 45,21 (18-55) years old) and 100 females (aged 41,57(18-58) years old). The mean CCT of population study was 524,62. The mean CCT of females was 524,05 ; and the mean of CCT in males was 525,2 .
The association between CCT and refractive error find: 517.37 in people with hyperopia , 532.52 mm in people with myopia and 523.37 in emmetropes.
Conclusions:
Present study showed no significant inter-sex difference, but find that the means CCT of myopique population was thinner than people with hyperopia and emmetropes . While the mean CCT in the study population was less than that of other published values.
