Abstract Details
Purpose:
To report a case that describes corneal deposits in a female patient as the presenting and only sign of IgG4-related disease and its management
Setting:
Bahçeşehir University School of Medicine, Department of Ophthalmology, Istanbul, Turkey
Methods:
A 61-year-old female patient presented with recurring non-symptomatic, gradual onset, white corneal stromal deposits in her left eye which was previously operated elsewhere a year ago. Before that, she had no history of previous ocular trauma, surgery or any eye disease. Systemic blood work-up with internal medicine consultation revealed IgG4-related disease.
Results:
Slit-lamp examination demonstrated 8x10 mm diffuse, whitish-gray crystalline like anterior stromal deposits in the upper nasal cornea in the left eye. EDTA assisted superficial keratectomy combined with amniotic membrane transplantation was performed.
Conclusions:
Corneal deposits are rare manifestations of paraproteinemic keratopathies. Here we report a case with unilateral, asymptomatic corneal deposits as the presenting sign of IgG4-related disease.
