Abstract Details

Purpose:

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a technique that has a proven track record in retinal imaging and it’s increasingly used in imaging the anterior segment The aim of our work is to define the different oct applications in the pathology of the anterior segment

Setting:

Ophtalmology Department, Adult 20 Aout Hospital CHU Ibn Rochd Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of Casablanca Casablanca Morocco

Methods:

Observational prospective study over a period of one year  including patients in the consultation, presenting ocular surface pathologies involving the cornea, the conjunctiva and the iridocorneal angle

Results:

We used oct cirrus 4000. An oct was performed in 34 patients with corneal abscess and allowed to determine its depth, and follow its evolution. In the case of corneal transplants, the oct was performed in 20 patients, it allowed to assess the depth of the corneal opacities, to envisage the possibility of lamellar grafting and to watch complications after keratoplasty. Five glaucomatous patients had an OCT to study the iridocorneal angle and to follow their surgery.  We also had in our serie one patient with an irian tumor. Retro-corneal precipitates were found in six patients with anterior uveitis

Conclusions:

OCT  is an easy exam to perform. It doesn’t depend a lot on the skill of the operator, and it’s well tolerated by the patient. This technique is becoming increasingly useful due to the performance of new devices (Visante®-OCT, Carl Zeiss Meditec) especially in the field of glaucoma
