Abstract Details
Purpose:
To share speaker own professional opinions my study results about how to compensate the cyclotorsion of the human eye during treatment of astigmatism in SMILE procedure
Setting:
In normal human eye when changing from erect to sleeping position it rotate around it’s horizontal axis between 10 to 30 degrees, which can be challenging in treatment astigmatism in the excimer lasers this can be a-polished by the tracking system and iris print and the topo guided treatment .
Methods:
Marking 0and180 in the upright position with spacial laser transparent ink do docking as usual then suction at this point the extent of cyclotorsion is determined using the reticule in the eye piece cyclotorsion is measured by noting the position of the limbal marking in relation to the 0-180 degree axis of the reticule the cone is rotated suction on to align the marks on the eye to 0-180 of the reticule
Results:
50 eyes were done this method having astigmatism range from -0.75 till -5.00 with residual postoperative astigmatism ranging from 0 till + or - 0.5 with no impact on the UAVA
Comparing to our results before using that method which was residual astigmatism 0.5 till 1.00
Conclusions:
Manual rotation of the cone of the patient eye piece in the visu max while using SMILE to treat myopic astigmatism is very easy and rewarding method
