Abstract Details

Purpose:

The objective of the present study is to determine the incidence of ocular involvement in a population followed for ocular rosacea in the dermatology department at university hospital center OUJDA MOROCCO which has systematically benefited from an ophthalmological examination in our training program. by emphasizing the diagnostic elements and the therapeutic difficulties.

Setting:

UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL CENTER MOHAMMED VI OUJDA

Methods:

During the period from January 2018 to June 2019, we examined the eyes of 80 patients with rosacea of all severity levels who were followed in the ophthalmology department of the Mohammed VI university hospital oujda morocco.

Results:

During this period 80 patients consulted at the dermatology department for rosacea About 24 patients  had ocular rosacea. The average age of patients with rosacea was 43, with a clear female predominance. The majority of patients had mild to moderate erythematous telangiectatic rosacea, The main ophthalmologic manifestations  were dominated by chronic blepharitis , The medical treatment consisted in all our patients in palpebral hygiene measures associated with topical azythromycin. General cyclins have been used outside their contraindication. The evolution was marked by a clinical improvement in the majority of the patients with stabilization of the lesions.

Conclusions:

Ocular involvement during rosacea is not uncommon. However, it is too often ignored, sometimes evolving insidiously towards the complications close collaboration between ophthalmologists and dermatologists is needed for rosacea for better management of the disease.
