Abstract Details
Purpose:
cataract surgery is classified as one of the most frequent operations, affecting a population over 65 years of age.
its prognosis is often favorable, nevertheless, it exsists rare complications whose inflammation of the former segment known under the name of TASS.
Setting:
Military hospital , Rabat
Methods:
We report a series of 10 cases, collected at the ophthalmology department of the military hospital flap instructions, who presented with inflammation of the anterior segment post cataract surgery.
Results:
the 10 patients presented at J1 postoperative visual blur, associated with mild pain (7 patients) to moderate (3 patients), a corneal edema with tyndall anterior chamber in all patients, including 4 with a hypopion.
the posterior segment was inaccessible in 8 patients, whose ocular ultrasound showed no intra vitreous organization in favor of endophthalmitis.
all patients were treated with local corticosteroids, with general use in 3 patients.
Conclusions:
TAAS is a complication in post-surgery of the anterior segment, rare indeed, but sometimes can leave disabling sequels or the interest to respect some prophylactic measures.
