Abstract Details
Purpose:
Eye trauma is the leading cause of vision loss in people under 40 years of age.
Work accidents occupy an important place in ophthalmic emergencies.
We report the experience of our department in the management of a patient with an intraocular lens foreign body
Setting:
departement of ophtalmology Mohamed VI university hospital center of Marrakech
Methods:
A 38 year old male , with no particular pathological history, presented eye trauma 4 days before his admission following the projection of a foreign body in work place.
Results:
The slit lampe examination found: a visual acuity of the traumatized eye with hand movement, a central corneal wound about 2 mm sealed, a total white cataract with 2 black particles embedded in the lens.
Imaging revealed the presence of an intraocular lens foreign body of millimeter size and metal density.
A phacoemulsification with extraction of the foreign body and implantation of intra ocular lens in the posterior chamber of the eye was realized .
there was a good visual recovery, with no postoperative complication.
Conclusions:
The prognosis of the accidents depends partly on the quality and the precocity of management and secondly on the severity of the complications.
Hence the interest of prevention in the workplace.
