Abstract Details
Purpose:
To compare the results of calculation of the trifocal IOL performed using four formulas and various keratometric data.
Setting:
S. Fyodorov Eye Microsurgery Federal State Institution, St-Petersburg branch
Methods:
Phacoemulsification with femtolaser stage and implantation of a trifocal AcrySof IQ PanOptix IOL was performed on 45 eyes.
IOL was calculated on the IOL Master 500 (ver. 5.4 Carl Zeiss Meditec AG) using four formulas (Haigis, HofferQ, Holladay 1, SRK / T) and various keratometric data: 1) IOL Masters, 2) total corneal power in the 4 mm zone from the Pentacam Сataract Pre-Op map (map 1), 3) keratometry in the actual zone from the Pentacam EKR Holladay (map 2), 4) keratometry in the actual zone from the Pentacam Power Distribution (map 3).
Results:
The deviation of the calculated refraction from the values of refractometry and subjective correction obtained 1-3 months after the operation was calculated.
A statistically significant difference was obtained when comparing the calculated and obtained refraction using the Hoffer Q (0.6 ± 0.29 IOL Master; 0.37 ± 0.43 Pentacam map 1) and Holladay1 (0.87 ± 0.34 IOL Master; 0.64 ± 0.44 Pentacam map 1) formulas (p <0.05). In case of calculating using the keratometric data from the map 2 and 3, there were no significant differences compared with the IOL Master data.
Conclusions:
1. The Hoffer Q and Holladay1 formulas showed a significantly more accurate calculation using keratometry data of total corneal power in the 4 mm zone from the Cataract Pre-Op map.
2. When calculating using the keratometric data from the Pentacam Holladay EKR Detail Report and Power Distribution cards, there were no significant differences compared to the IOL-master data, however, a lower average calculation error when using data from the presented Pentacam cards compared to the IOL-Master data can be noted.
