Abstract Details
Purpose:
To determine the repeatability and agreement of a color LED corneal topographer (Cassini) and compare it with two topographers based on monochromatic LEDs (Allegro Biograph and Verion reference unit), and a Scheimpflug imaging device (Pentacam).
Setting:
Oftalvist CIO Jerez, Jerez de la Frontera, Spain
Methods:
The keratometric readings SimK and equivalent-K reading (EKR) were obtained from Biograph, Cassini, Pentacam and Verion topographers. Measurement correlation, intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC), and agreement between devices by the Bland-Altman plot in corneal astigmatism (magnitude, axis) were evaluated.
Results:
The ICC was higher than 0.97 for all devices and significant correlations were found between color LED topographer and the other devices for magnitude and axis location of astigmatism. The differences in corneal astigmatism (only in magnitude) were significant between Cassini and Pentacam for SimK (0.31 D, P < 0.05), and EKR (0.64 D; P < 0.05) but not for axis where the difference was less than 1 degree for SimK. Wide limits of agreement from Bland-Altman plots were found between Cassini and Biograph, Pentacam and Verion for magnitude and axis of astigmatism.
Conclusions:
The color LED topographer Cassini had similar ICC and good correlation with the other devices. Axis position of astigmatism with color LED corneal topography yielded values comparable to those found in commonly used devices that may be interesting for toric intraocular lenses. However, Cassini and the other topographers cannot be used interchangeably for SimK and EKR values.
