Abstract Details
Purpose:
To evaluate the clinical outcomes of FS-LASIK surgery for the correction of myopia performed with the Advanced CustomVue excimer laser platform with high resolution aberrometer.
Setting:
Department of Ophthalmology, TiangJin Medical University General Hospital , China
Methods:
A total of 102 eyes from 51 patients with myopia ranging from -1.00 to -12.63 D and astigmatism of no more than -5.00D were enrolled in this study. All cases underwent WFG LASIK using VISX STAR S4 IR excimer laser and iDesign system.Manifest spherical equivalent refraction, uncorrected and spherical-corrected visual acuityhigh-order aberration(HOA) were assessed at 1 month and 3 months after surgery.
Results:
Mean refraction was -0.14Â± 0.60D and -0.18Â± 0.57D at 1 and 3 months postoperatively, and mean LogMAR CDVA was -0.04Â±0.06 and -0.03Â±0.05. At 3 months postoperatively, 95% were withinÂ± 1.00D and 98% were withinÂ±2.00D. 21% of cases gained more than 1 line of CDVA whereas 2% of cases dropped 1 line.ãPreoperative mean HOA RMS and spherical aberration(SE) were 0.19Â±0.10Âµm and 0.04Â±0.07Âµm, 1 month after surgery, HOA RMS and SE were 0.19Â±0.16 and 0.06Â±0.07Âµm. There were no significant differences between before and after surgery in HOA and SE (P>0.05).
Conclusions:
WFG-LASIK using high resolution aberrometer yielded effective, safe and predictable results for the correction of mild to high myopia. The high order aberration and spherical aberration after WFG-LASIK were comparable to that before surgery.
