A case of infective keratitis following femtosecond laser-assisted implantation of 355° ICRS in patient with keratoconus

Abstract Details

Purpose:

To report a case of infective infective keratits 1 month following insertion of 355°ICR femtosecond laser assisted in a 14 years old patient with keratoconus

Setting:

Memorial institute for ophthalmic research , Egypt

Methods:

Case summary A patient presented with bilateral keratoconus with central cone 355° keraring was implanted bilateraly with femtosecond laser with uneventful intraoperative and regular early post operative and improvement of vision and exellent tolerance to rings .one month later presented with pain , photophobia and decrease vision since 1 day , slit lamp examination revealed infiltration around the ring and incision site with hypopyon in anterior chamber .

Results:

Intensive fortified eye drops were given after 48 hours there was no improvement and started corneal melting and hypopyon increased.Therapeutic corneal graft were done with good result and 6 months later BCVA is 0.5 .

Conclusions:

Infective keratitis after ICRS implantation is uncommon especially femtosecond laser assisted but sight-threatening complication that needs urgent mangement and early intervention
