Abstract Details

Purpose:

To evaluate optical and functional outcomes and patients satisfaction after Implantation of the asymmetric multifocal LENTIS Comfort toric.

Setting:

A private ophthalmic clinic

Methods:

In a prospective case study from September 2015-January 2017 the LENTIS Comfort toric was implanted in 50 eyes of 32 patients with cataract. They had astigmatisms from 1,5-4,5.Preoperative refraction, wave front analysis, postoperative uncorrected (UCVA) for distance, intermediate and near, post-op refraction , best corrected (BCVA) and wave front were all evaluated. The quality of vision, glare, halos and the personal satisfaction of the patients was assessed with a validated questionnaire.

Results:

Three months after the Implantation the mean UCVA for distance was 0,80; for intermediate 0,76;for near 0.59. BCVA was 0,83 ;0,78;and 0,6.The mean refraction was -0,35D None of the patients needed glasses for working on PC , 58% were able to read newspaper without glasses. The questionnaire showed ,that 30% of the patients were very satisfied and 70% satisfied with the achieved results.

Conclusions:

The Lentis Comfort toric with a low diopter near add delivered excellent visual acuity for distance and intermediate and acceptable results for near .All patients were independent of glasses for distance and intermediate vision. 42 % of patients needed glasses for near..Overall patient satisfaction was high.
