Abstract Details

Purpose:

To estimate refractive results and patients’ satisfaction after bilateral implantation of AcrySof IQ ReSTOR +2,5 and +3,0 multifocal IOLs using “blended” technology.

Setting:

IRTC Eye Microsurgery Ekaterinburg Center

Methods:

Within 2016, in our clinic 29 patients were operated with AcrySof IQ ReSTOR and 3 patients with AcrySof IQ ReSTOR TORIC implantation using “blended” technology. This means implantation of an IOL with addition power of +2.5 D in the dominant eye and +3.0 D in the non-dominant eye. The results were estimated at first day post-op, in 1 and 3 months after the operation. Distance and near visual acuity (VA) was tested; refractometry, keratometry, and tonometry were performed. Patient's satisfaction was estimated using VF-14 questionnaire.

Results:

In 3 months after the operation, with + 3.0 D addition power, mean distance VA was 0.95, near VA was 0.8. With +2.5 D addition power, mean distance VA was 1.0, near VA 0.6. Patients’ satisfaction according to VF-14 questionnaire was 95.7%. Complete satisfaction was reported by 54.5% of patients (all of them were emmetropes and hyperopes). Myopic patients reported slight difficulties with small print reading and fine handwork.

Conclusions:

Combination of two IOL models (AcrySof IQ ReSTOR +2.5 and +3.0) provides high quality of distance and near vision. Patients operated using this technology report high satisfaction with the result; nevertheless, myopic patients may complain for near vision quality.
