Abstract Details
Purpose:
To evaluate the visual and refractive outcomes after the implantation of the Finevision Toric intraocular lens (IOL) one month after surgery.
Setting:
Clnica Rementera. Madrid
Methods:
The charts of patients who had received the study IOL in our center between June 2015 and June 2016 were retrospectively reviewed. Patients with intraoperative complications were excluded from the study. Uncorrected visual acuity for far, intermediate and near distances were collected, as well as corrected far vision and subjective refraction one month after surgery. Centroid postoperative refractive cylinder was calculated and compared to predicted values.
Results:
76 eyes of 48 patients were included in the study. Mean uncorrected visual acuity was 0.076 LogMAR for far, 0.140 for intermediate and 0.015 for near. Corrected visual acuity for far distance was 0.025. Mean postsurgical spherical equivalent was -0.09 diopters (D); 52 eyes had no postoperative cylinder, with an overall mean value of -0.25 D. In patients with preoperative with the rule astigmatism postoperative centroid refractive cylinder was 0.15D at 165Âº compared to a predicted value of 0.08D at 91Âº and in patients with against the rule astigmatism 0.26D at 175Âº compared to expected value of 0.04D at 5Âº.
Conclusions:
The trifocal Finevision Toric IOL achieves excellent visual outcomes, with minimal postoperative astigmatism. Eyes with preoperative with the rule astigmatism were slightly overcorrected and eyes with against the rule astigmatism slightly undercorrected.
