Purpose:
Commercial experience in patients implanted contralaterally with a small-aperture IC-8 IOL and a monofocal IOL.
Setting:
VISIS, Ophthalmology Center, Perpignan, FR
Methods:
Five bilateral cataract patients underwent IC-8 IOL implantation in one eye and an aspheric monofocal IOL in the other eye. The IC-8 eye and the monofocal eyes were targeted for -0.50 D and plano manifest spherical equivalent refraction (MRSE), respectively. Uncorrected (UC) and best-corrected (BC) distance (D), intermediate (I) and near (N) visual acuities were measured in the IC-8 eye and binocularly. Decimal acuity results are reported mean decimal Â± stdev.
Results:
Postoperatively, UCDVA was 0.79 Â± 0.14 (6/7.5), UCIVA was 0.86 Â± 0.05 (6/7) and UCNVA was 0.83 Â± 0.14 (6/7) in the IC-8 eye. Binocularly, UCDVA was 0.98 Â± 0.05 (6/6), UCIVA was 0.86 Â± 0.05 (6/7) and UCNVA was 0.83 Â± 0.14 (6/7). The BCDVA was 0.90 Â± 0.12 (6/7). The mean Â± stdev MRSE was -0.28 D Â± 0.55 D, post-operatively.
Conclusions:
Uncorrected visual acuity in the IC-8 eye and binocular visual acuities show patients achieve good for near, intermediate and distance vision performance.
