Correction of myopia and astigmatism with intraocular phakic contact lens (IPCL)

Abstract Details

Purpose:

To evaluate safety and predictability for myopia, and myopia and astigmatism correction in phakic patients implanted with IPCL

Setting:

Hospital Oftalmologico Santa Lucia. Buenos Aires. Argentina. Oculus Oftalmologico de Avanzada. Buenos Aires. Argentina.

Methods:

Prospective study: 11 eyes of 7 patients were implanted with IPCL: 8 spherical IPCL and 3 topic IPCL toric.

Results:

The preoperative spherical equivalent was -14.98 diopters (between -8.75 and - 25.75 diopters), postoperative -0.18 diopters, (between -1.25 and 0.5 diopters).

Conclusions:

The IPCL offers a safe and predictable alternative for the correction of myopia or myopia and elevated astigmatism in phakic patients.
