Abstract Details

Purpose:

Purpose: to evaluate refractive and visual outcome of ReLEx SMILE technology in managing high myopic astigmatic.

Setting:

the british lasik and cosmetic surgery center

Methods:

Methods: This study evaluated 40 eyes of 20 patients that had SMILE treatment with in eyes with high myopic astigmatism. Treatment was done using VisuMax femtosecond laser (Carl Zeiss Meditec) platform. Pre- and postoperative uncorrected (UDVA), corrected (CDVA) distance visual acuities, manifest refraction, keratometry (K) readings, corneal topography and complications in all treated eyes were collected and analyzed.

Results:

Results: The preoperative mean spherical equivalent (MSE) was -9.76 D, Mean sphere (MS) was -7.4 and mean cylinder (MC) was -3.82. The mean post-operative spherical equivalent (PSE) was -0.12 , the mean postoperative sphere (PMS) was âˆ’0.08 D, mean postoperative cylinder (MPC) was -0.31D with a mean axis at 165.5.There were no significant difference regarding the change of UDVA, CDVA, refractive error and average K (P>.05) at 3,6 and 12 months post-operative follow up.

Conclusions:

ConclusionUsing Small Incision Lenticule Extraction (ReLEx SMILE) in treatment of high myopic astigmatism is safe, effective and stable
