Abstract Details
Purpose:
Determine peculiarities of iridocorneal angle morphometric parameters in patients with lens subluxation
Setting:
State Medical University, Department of Ophthalmology,
Zaporozhye, Ukraine
Methods:
36 patients (72 eyes) with cataract, complicated by lens subluxation, were examined. There were: men 16 (44,4%), women 20 (55,6%), the average age 67,4 ± 0,6 years. Standard ophthalmic examination alongside with biomicrogonioscopy and optical coherence tomography (OCT) of the eye anterior segment were performed
36 patients entered the main and the control group: the eyes with lens subluxation were studied in the first one and the eyes without the affliction in the second
Results:
The average readings of minimal index iridocorneal angle in the main and the control groups equaled 12,8±1,4 and 24,9±2,4. Maximal indices of iridocorneal angle were obviously lower (20,58%) in the control group.
In the patients with lens subluxation, the difference between minimal and maximal indices of angle parameters was 12,48±1,7°, (p < 0,05). In the control group, this difference made 6,23±1,4.
In the main group, cases of goniosynechiae were revealed 26 times (72,22±7,47%) compared to 5 times (13,89±5,76%) in the control group. Exogenous pigmentation was occurred more frequently in main group – 1,86 times higher compared to the control group.
Conclusions:
The patients with lens subluxation have developed changes of iridocorneal angle which were not noted in the control group. Minimal indices of iridocorneal angle in the main group was by 48,59% less than in the control group. Maximal index of iridocorneal angle was significantly lower in the control group (by 20,58%). The difference between minimal and maximal indices of iridocorneal angle was 2 times higher in the main group than in the control one. In the main group, the cases of goniosynechiae with lens subluxation were revealed 5,2 times more often than in the control group.
