Gender, age, diagnosis, management plan, drugs prescribed and the outcome of the treatments were recorded. The severity of visual field defect at the time of diagnosis was also recorded.
Results:
There is a significant number of people prescribed with preservative free anti glaucoma treatment as a first line treatment by the glaucoma specialists with record and comments on ocular surface and existing allergies. Out of 343 prescriptions issued for Prostaglandin analogues 113 were preservative free. Total number of prescriptions issued were 413 and the number of prescriptions where preservative free medication were prescribe were 147.
Conclusions:
This a good evidence of changing practice with glaucoma specialists that they are considering and examining ocular surface before the start or initiation of anti glaucoma treatment. and are considering preservative free as first line treatment.
