Abstract Details

Purpose:

To report the outcome of MyoRing implantation for patient with Keratoconous using femtosecond laser

Setting:

Assiut University, Alazhar University and Alnour eye center

Methods:

21 eyes of 21 patients with Keratoconous underwent MyoRing implantation after creation of corneal pocket using femtosecond laser. The main outcome measures were uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA), best spectacle corrected visual acuity (BSCVA), refractive error and corneal curvature. All these parameters compared preoperatively and 6 months postoperatively. In addition, operative and postoperative complications were recorded

Results:

21 eyes of 21 patients with Keratoconous. The mean age was 23.95 Â± 4.96 years. The MyoRing implantation significantly increased UCVA from 0.05 to 0.24, improved BSCVA from 0.28 to 0.32, decreased spherical equivalent of refractive error from -10.27 Â± 3.44 to -1.07Â± 2.57 diopters (D), decreased mean keratometric values (mean K) from 50.67 Â± 4.45 to 43.61 Â± 4.75. . Infectious keratitis occurred in one eye after four weeks postoperative and improved with treatment within 2 weeks. One patient was unsatisfied due to poor centration of MyoRing, he was managed by re-centration of the ring 1 week postoperative

Conclusions:

MyoRing implantation into corneal pocket using femtosecond laser is an effective method for management of Keratoconous
