Abstract Details

Purpose:

The authors evoke the pachymetry modifications of the corneal epithelium in suspect, progressive keratoconus and during control post CXL .

Setting:

Corneal epithelium Keratoconus Crosslinking Pachymetry Corneal OCT

Methods:

The patients concerned have benefited from a pachymetric exam of corneal epithelium using the OCT OPTOVUE machine .This study involved about 100 cases between January 2016 and January 2017

Results:

The preliminary results demonstrate the following: • High sensitivity of pachymetry variations( Pattern Standard Deviation) of corneal epithelium both in the case of suspect , progressive keratoconus; namely a thinning of the cone and a progressive increase of thickness in a centrifugal way relative to the cone ( DUNNEGHT ) This variation of the epithelial pachymetry (PSD) along the corneal surface is reported in the literature • Corneal thickness increasing after CXL in EPPIOFF lasts about 4 weeks .It is necessary to take account of this thickness both before CXL EPI-OFF and during post-operative control period .

Conclusions:

Which place will epithelial mapping occupy in the diagnosis of suspect keratoconus , in the diagnosis of stable keratoconus ? and in CXL efficiency estimate?
