Abstract Details

Purpose:

This study aims to analyze the Q outcomes in patients with Kc who underwent the implant of FICRS. The device used in this study was the HR (Oculus).

Setting:

The study took place in a public hospital, FundaÃ§Ã£o Hilton Rocha, located in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil.

Methods:

Between january to december 2014, we analyzed twenty eyes of 17 patients with Kc, which underwent the implantation of FICRS using the Ferrara Nomogram were evaluated by the outcomes of the corneal Q. The criteria for inclusion in this study were: eyes with Kc which underwent the implantation of FICRS. The criteria of exclusion were patients that did not repeated the PHR after the implantation of the FICRS and the ones that the ring extruded or the ones that had indication to have removed the FICRS.

Results:

The mean decrease of the Q was of 0.51.The highest change in the Q after FICRS implantation was from Q= -1,72 to Q= -0,56; it was used one FICRS of 210/150. Only in one case the Q increased after the implant FICRS from -0,22 to -0,35.

Conclusions:

This study demonstraded the positive change in the cornea Q after the implantation of the FICRS using FerraraÂ´s Nomogram followed by the improvement of the visual acuity.
