Abstract Details

Purpose:

To describe the changes in keratometry and hight orden aberrations after implant intracorneal rings in 30 eyes with keratoconnus by mechanical tecnique.

Setting:

Hospital Universitario Virgen del RocÃo, Sevilla.

Methods:

We used a restrospective study to describe de differences in visual acuity, keratometry and RMS aberrations, specially coma and spherical aberration. We diivided the eyes in order to the number os rings implanted: one or two, the optic zone and the length of the segment. All the surgeries were permformed between november 2015 and july 2016. Any other treatment was used during this time.

Results:

In most of cases we found a lower spherical and coma value aberration. The average was: preoperatory coma: 1,62 _0,82 y SA 2,36 ,31 and postoperatory 0,86 _ 0,66 the coma and 0,98 _ 1,03 the spherical aberration. When we implant two segment the coma postoperative was higher than when we implant just one: 1,43 _ 0,74 with two and 0,70 _ 0,26 with one segment. The spherical aberration decrease was higher in the same group: 1,18 + 1,36 in two segments and 0,84+ 0,74 in the group of one.

Conclusions:

Whe found a significative decrease of the high orden aberration in both groups, being higher in the just one segment implant if we compare them.
