Abstract Details
Purpose:
To evaluate graft-host interface after penetrating keratoplasty (PKP) using anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT).
Setting:
Ophthalmology Department, Habib Thameur Hospital, Tunis, Tunisia
Methods:
CASE REPORT:
72 years-old patient had penetrating keratoplasty for descemetocele. AS-OCT scans of the cornea and the anterior segment was performed after transplantation with the Swept-Source optical coherence tomography
Results:
AS-OCT showed incongruities of the donor and host corneas at the wound site in some scans explaning postoperative graft edema. The patient was reoperated and a single running suture was placed with a good postoperatively result .
Conclusions:
Anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) is an invasive imaging technique that allows qualitative and quantitative analysis of the graft-host interface after penetrating keratoplasty. It a useful tool for the management of postoperative complications.
