Femtosecond-assisted ipsilateral rotational lamellar autokeratoplasty for treating central corneal opacities

Abstract Details
Purpose:
To study the results of Femto second assissted ipsilateral rotational lamellar autokeratoplasty in displacing central locaized superficial corneal opacities.
Setting:
Assiut University Hospital,Assiut,Egypt
Methods:
Three patients with unilateral central corneal scars ranging from 3 by 2 to 3 by4 mm affecting part or all of undilated pupil and superficial leaving clear residual corneal bed exceeding 250 micron as documented by anterior segment OCT without history of herpetic keratitis, all underwent femtosecond anterior lamellar trephination with Allegretto WaveLight�Â�® FS200 Laser .
The trephine was decentered so that scar is eccentric and then button was rotated 180 degrees and reposited so that scar braught towards periphery and center was cleared .
No stitches were used but only CL.
Results:
The three cases had improved visual aciuty from mean Log MAR of 1.0 to 0.4 at end of first postoperative month with no recorded postoperative complications.
Conclusions:
Femto second assissted ipsilateral rotational lamellar autokeratoplasty was effective and safe in treating central corneal opacities.
