Abstract Details

Purpose:

We present a case of extensive conjunctival intraepithelial neoplasia which was treated successfully with topical MMC 0.04%.

Setting:

Prince Sultan Military Medical City , Riyad ,Saudi Arabia

Methods:

A case of 74 years old saudi male who had a history of redness for long period . Clinical examination showed extensive diffuse conjunctival tumour superiorly . Incisional biopsy revealed the diagnosis of extensive Conjunctival intraepithelial neoplasia .We started the patient on topical MMC 0.04% administered four times a day for 2 weeks cycles , with one week off between cycles .

Results:

Complete regression of the tumour achieved after 1 month of topical Mitomycin C 0.04~% administered four times a day for 2 weeks cycles , with one week off between cycles . Corneal toxicity from topical Mitomycin use was observed in this case and managed successfully .

Conclusions:

This case highlights the efficacy of MMC 0.04% in the management of extensive conjunctival intraepithelial neoplasia.
