Abstract Details
Purpose:
To present our post-operative refractive outcome in eyes with keratoconus, which are implanted with toric IOL calculated with standard formulas SRK / T and Holladay.
Setting:
Specialized Eye HospitalZora. We have 6 eyes of 5 patients average 46.6 years. All eyes are with proven through a topography keratoconus - I - II degree without prior cross-linking and different in density cataract. One eye is with clear-lens extraction in order to correct the diopter.
Methods:
All six eyes were operated on by the same surgeon with standard phaco-technique being implanted with a toric IOL. All eyes were marked manually.
When calculating the toric IOL, K1, K2 and the axis of corneal astigmatism were measured with a biograf. In all cases the density of the cataract allowed for optical biometry. Standard formulas SRK / T and Holladay were used and an on-line calculator and the targeted refraction was emmetropia.
Results:
The eyes are evaluated on the first, third and sixth months, as reported by Visual acuity with and without correction, auto-refractometer, progression and stability of the results .There was no progression of the keratoconus. None of the eyes needed post op. correction for far distance with glasses or contact lenses. On the third month reading glasses were prescribed.
Conclusions:
With the cases presented we prove that the application of standard formulas SRK / T and Holladay in the calculation of toric IOLs in eyes with mild to moderate keratoconus, gives some very good postoperative refractive results. This way we show another possible way for correction of refractive anomaly - myopia and irregular astigmatism in eyes with keratoconus
and KS up to 47 D 48 D.
