Abstract Details

Purpose:

To compare IOL power in patients who had RK in past using Automated Keratometry based K values, Optical Biometer (Nidek, AL- Scan) & Ray tracing (Sirius, CSO)

Setting:

Mumbai Eye Care

Methods:

8 eyes / 4 cases with RK undergoing cataract surgery had Automated keratometer, Ultrasound A SCAN, Optical biometer & Ray tracing. The IOL power was measured using all & average value on the SRK/T formula was selected (Alcon IQ). Post operative refraction was performed at 1 week and was compared with the emmetropic power with each of the machines

Results:

At 1 week the mean BCVA was 0.9. The average refractive sphere was .0D ( Range -0.5 to ). Post operative emmetropic power selected using mean power from all the machine showed a hyperopic surprise. If IOL power was to be chosen using Ray tracing, we would be closest to emmetropia

Conclusions:

In patients who have undergone RK in past, Ray tracing is good to calculated IOL power. Hyperopic surprises are common. Target myopia to avoid surprises
