Abstract Details
Purpose:
To report two cases of the double-layered anterior lens capsule during a conventional cataract surgery.
Setting:
Case reports / Dongguk University Ilsan hospital
Methods:
Two cases which showed a double-layered anterior lens capsule during the conventional cataract surgery were evaluated retrospectively.
Results:
A 76-year-old male and a 67-year-old female patients underwent the phacoemulsification and intraocular lens (IOL) insertion. There were no specific findings except moderate cataract in preoperative examinations. During the phacoemulsification and IOL insertion, a 'double ring sign' was observed in both cases. In second case, a radial tear in interotemporal quadrant was occurred. In both cases, IOL insertion was performed successfully and visual acuity recovery was obtained postoperatively without any complications.
Conclusions:
During the phacoemulsification and IOL insertion, we experienced the double-layered lens capsule in two cases. The double-ring sign may be considered as the specific finding of the double-layered lens capsule.
