Abstract Details
Purpose:
The number of articles presented in ophthalmological literature, which are devoted to the study of functional results of Lentis Comfort IOL (Oculentis Gmbh, Germany) implantation, is insignificant. Therefore, the purpose of our work was the analysis of results of phacoemulsification (PE) with Lentis Comfort IOL implantation.
Setting:
The research was performed in the State Institution Eye Microsurgery Complex named after academician S.N. Fyodorov, Khabarovsk, Russia
Methods:
35 patients (35 eyes) with senile cataract who underwent PE with Lentis Comfort IOL implantation.
All patients were standardly examined before operation. Distance, near and intermediate vision acuity (VA) , refraction of pseudophakic eyes and IOL position were examined and analyzed in the terms of 1-2 days(discharge from the clinic), 1 and 3 months postoperatively.
The patients were also questioned about the presence of halo and glare effects in the vision field of pseudophakic eyes.
Results:
The refraction of operated eyes met the target in the dynamics of postoperative period (.25Â±0.1 in the average).
The mean values of uncorrected distance and intermediate VA at the discharge and the following terms of observation were high in all cases and made 0.96Â±0.06 and 0.81Â±0.03, correspondingly. Mean near VA was 0.54Â±0.06, which allowed reading without additional correction to the majority of patients (32 persons â 91.4%).
None of the patients complained on the presence of halo and glare effects in the vision field.
Conclusions:
Implantation of Lentis Comfort IOL allowed achieving high uncorrected distance and intermediate VA in 100% of eyes, and near VA in 91% of operated eyes.
Besides high values of VA, Lentis Comfort IOL guaranties the optimal vision quality due to absence of dysphotopsies in the vision field of pseudophakic eyes.
