Abstract Details

Purpose:

The point of the study was to compare the expected residual astigmatism according Verion Vision Planner with the gained post-op cylinder power in patients with Toric IOL's, on the first month after cataract surgery.

Setting:

Eye Hospital ZORA, Sofia, Bulgaria

Methods:

Included in the study were 78 eyes gone through cataract surgery with Toric IOL's. There was no vitreoretinal pathology in all 78 eyes. All the calculations for the Toric IOL's were done with Verion Vision Planner. The post-op best corrected visual aquity was taken with Snellen chart. We devided the eyes in four groups according the expected residual astigmatism: 1st group < 0.5 cyl power - 56 eyes 2nd group 0.5 cyl power - 18 eyes 3rd group 1.0 cyl power - 1 eye 4th group > 1.0 cyl power - 3 eyes

Results:

In 60 of the followed 78 eyes we have no clinically significant post-op astigmatism (< 0.5). According Verion Vision Planner 44 eyes are from the group with not expected residual post-op astigmatism( < 0.5 ). The other 16 eyes are from the group with expected residual astigmatism 0.5 cylinder power.

Conclusions:

We concluded that Verion Vision Planner is a reliable tool in cataract surgery with Toric IOL's. Verion Vision Planner gives high predictability of expected post-op astigmatism, providing good quality of life to our patients.
