Abstract Details
Purpose:
Big eye clinics in the field of cataract surgery are known for reduced surgery times with short transition periods. Staff often feels exposed with a lot of stress. Every movement has to be on point. Every single instrument has to be on the table right before the start of the surgery. In our eye clinic, we extended our range of the recently used JohnsonJohnson AAB00 by the preloaded Kowa Avansee Preload1P IOL and compared the handling of the different IOLs and as well the refractive results.
Setting:
Augen-Zentrum-Nordwest, Ahaus
Methods:
An objective and anonymous survey for the staff was conducted to find out which IOL they find is the better one concerning the procedure. Furthermore we compared the refractive results postoperatively.
Results:
In all of the cases the introduction of the Kowa Avansee Preload1P was seen as a clear relief in effort: instead of IOL, injector and cartridge only one instrument has to be passed to the sterile assistance in theatre. In the sterilization area they do not have to clean the injectors anymore. Both systems, the JohnsonJohnson AAB00 eyes as well as the eyes with Kowa Avansee Preload1P, do not differ in postoperative visual acuity.
Conclusions:
The Kowa Avansee Preload1P optimizes the surgical procedures and results in reliable postoperative refraction.
