Abstract Details
Purpose:
To evaluate surgical technique and visual outcome of scleral fixation of intraocular lens bag complex using Hoffman pocket method
Setting:
Eye Clinic, Military Medical Academy, Belgrade, Serbia
Methods:
We followed series of 8 eyes with spontaneous intraocular lens (IOL) - Bag complex dislocation. All eyes were with pseudoexfoliation syndrome or pseudoexfoliation glaucoma. For all eyes we made scleral fixation of IOL-Bag complex using Hoffman pocket and 10-0 sutures. Mean follow-up period is 24 months.
Results:
Average time since cataract surgery was 7.1 years. Mean visual acuity after repositioning IOL-bag complex was 0.67. After 24 months all repositioned IOLs were well centered.
Conclusions:
Scleral pocket fixation of IOL-Bag complex is easy and quick method with good visual outcome and considering sparing of conjunctiva is good choice for glaucoma patients.
