Abstract Details
Purpose:
We report reposition of dislocated plate haptic toric iol with a new scleral fixation technique.
Setting:
Istanbul Medeniyet University School of Medicine, Goztepe, Istanbul, Turkey
Methods:
After marking toric IOL axis conjunctival incisions were done. Sclera was marked at two opposite points of 2 mm away from limbus on an imaginary line passing through the holes on the IOL. A double-armed 10-0 polypropylene suture was entered from the marked point, passed through the hole on IOL and removed from the paracentesis on the opposite side with a 27-gauge needle. It was reentered form the same paracentesis and removed from the eye with a 27-gauge needle. Same procedure applied to the other hole. Sutures were adjusted and fixated to the sclera with Z suture. Conjunctiva was sutured.
Results:
No complications were seen intraoperatively or postoperatively. At the follow up visits (first day, first week, second week) uncorrected visual acuity was 0.8 snellen. Postoperative autorefractometry showed 0.5 dioptric astigmatism
Conclusions:
In conclusion, scleral fixation surgery is a possible solution for plate haptic toric IOL decentralization with appropriate measurements.
