Abstract Details

Purpose:

To evaluate the surgical outcomes and life quality of Refractive Lens Exchange with Oculentis IOL implantation for moderate and high Hyperopia.

Setting:

OKOMED Ophthalmic Clinic. Moscow. Russia.

Methods:

Clinical study included 87 eyes of 71 patients aged 13-76 years (mean 59.06±11.3) with Hyperopia from +3.0D to +12.0D (mean +8.75D). Mean axial length was 20.9±1.17mm (18.61- 22.9mm), lens thickness was 4.68±0.33mm (4.1-5.8mm). The mean keratometry was 43.58±1.45D. Phacoemulsification through 2.2 mm corneal incision with IOL Lentis Mplus LS-313 MF30 (Oculentis GmbH) implantation was performed. For calculation of IOL optical power we use IOL Master (Carl Zeiss Meditec). The IOL optical power was +25D to +35D. The follow-up period was 3 months to 1.5 years.

Results:

Before surgery BCDVA was <0.1 – 23.7%, 0.1-0.2 – 37.3%, 0.3-0.7 – 39.0% (mean 0.22±0.05). After surgery UDVA was 0.8-1.0 – 90.8%. Only 1 eye with amblyopia had 0.1(1.1%), and 0.6-0.7 had 7 eyes with glaucoma (8.1%). Stereo visual acuity (Fly-test) was 200 to 20 sec. 100% patients did not need spectacles for near distance. Mean BCNVA was 0.65±0.05.

Conclusions:

Refractive Lens Exchange with Lentis Mplus implantation is efficient for correction and life quality of patients with moderate and high Hyperopia.
