Abstract Details

Purpose:

To study the influence of morphologic and biomechanic parameters measured by Pentacam and Ocular Response Analyser (ORA) on intraocular pressure (IOP) measurements with Goldmann applanation tonometry (GAT) and rebound tonometry i-CarePro (RBT) in post-keratoplasty corneas.

Setting:

Hospital Clinico San Carlos, Madrid. Ophthalmology Department Complutense University, Madrid. Vissum Ophthalmologic Corporation, Madrid.

Methods:

One hundred eyes with keratoplasty (KP) were included in this cross-sectional study. All subjects underwent IOP measurement by GAT and i-Care Pro. Pentacam was performed to record astigmatism, keratometry, angle, anterior chamber volume and depth, and corneal thickness (CCT) in pupilary centre axis. ORA was executed to asses corneal hysteresis (CH), corneal resistance factor (CRF) and IOP measurements, Goldmann correlated (IOPg) and corneal compensated (IOPcc). Pearson´s correlation coefficient (r) was estimated to study the influence any one of those parameters on IOP measurement obtained by GAT and ICP.

Results:

GAT, iCare Pro and ORA IOP measurements were 13.22±3 16.10±3.51 and 15.17±4.61 (IOPcc) and 15.17±4.98 (IOPg) mmHg respectively, while mean CH was 8.4±2.01 and mean CRF 8.61±2.37. GAT was correlated with RBT and ORA IOPcc and IOPcc (r = 0.46 [p< 0.01], r = 0.38 [p< 0.01] and r = 0.48 [p< 0.01] severally). A positive correlation was found between GAT and CRF (r = 0.4 [p< 0.01]) and RBT and CRF (r = 0.52 [p< 0.01]).

Conclusions:

iCare Pro and ORA IOP measurements are well correlated with GAT measurements but overestimate IOP respect to GAT in postkeratoplasty eyes. CRF is well correlated with GAT and RBT IOP measurements, not been well correlated with CCT.
