Purpose:
To assess the safety, visual and refractive outcomes of emirates protocol.
Setting:
New Vision Eye Center Dubai -UAE
Methods:
40 yes of 40 patients aged between18and40 years with KC underwent emirates protocol. Pre & post-Op evaluations include: Refraction,UDVA ,CDVA,flat and steep K reading, were evaluated 1,3,6, and 12 months postoperatively.
Results:
At12 months ,UDVA mean improved from(0.54 logMAR±0.27 SD)to(0.2 logMAR±0.14 SD)with P< 0.0001,CDVA mean improved from (0.8 logMAR±0.25 SD) to(0.42 logMAR±0.2 SD)with P< 0.0001, the mean Spherical equivalent (SEQ) improved from -6.77±4.25(D) to -2.77 ±3.29 D with P< 0.0001.
Conclusions:
Emirates protocol was safe and effective procedure that regularizes the ectatic corneal surface, improving visual function of KC.
